Helping patients to attain better health is the most enjoyable service that I offer. I believe in the old fashioned path to health - a good diet, sufficient exercise, getting enough sleep, and reducing stress as much as reasonably possible. It should be clear to everyone that shortcuts just do not work. If they did, 2/3 of our society would not be overweight, high blood pressure and diabetes would not be rampant, and cholesterol levels would not be through the roof. You'll never attain good health by taking the newest diet or
"anti-toxin" pill, cramming excessive amounts of herbs or vitamins into your body, or starving yourself to the point of irrepairably damaging your metabolism. Taking blood pressure and cholesterol medication may help reduce poor numbers but won't make you healthy. For good health, you do actually have to put a little effort into it.


Exercise Instruction / Consultation

Do you want to start an exercise program but don't really know what to do or how to start? Depending on your individual needs and available time, I can develop a program that will suit you. I always advise that consistency is the most important factor concerning exercise so you do need to be prepared to actually exercise on a regular basis however you might be surprised that it doesn't really need to take a lot of time. Intensity level is just one of the factors that you can manipulate with your workout depending on how much time you have available. 5 to 10 minutes of vigorous activity is much better than doing nothing at all and will have positive effects on your body's metabolism, hormone release, bone density/strength, muscle/tendon/ligament strength, cardiovascular health, and mental health and of course on those days where you can give a longer time commitment, give exercise more time. I have personally gone to the gym with patients in order to help them get started and familiarize themselves with the available equipment. A gym membership is not necessary but is definitely helpful.


Diet & Weight Loss Consultation


While exercise can be an important factor in weight loss, by far the most important factor is food intake. Are you eating healthy food and in reasonable quantities? If you're concerned with exactly what you should be eating and in what amounts, don't hesitate to give me a call. Diet goes hand in hand with exercise but you will get results by choosing to do just one or the other however results will be optimal when combining the two.
